CéU in Concert

Napa, California November 4, 2007
CeU The fact did not elude me that Napa, California the city that gave birth to the phonograph speaker and subsequently the Magnavox Corporation hosted an electric appearance by CéU the Brazilian vocalist. And those speakers.....stretched to unheard of lengths by electro-techo waveforms. All this at the beautifully restored Napa Valley Opera House. Ceu's five piece band proved that the recording studio with its bells and whistles can be recreated on a stage using patch sampling and enough punchy percussion that could transform the Stanford Marching Band into a Brazilian axé act. CéU's silky voice was a perfect counterpoint to Bruno Buarque's muscular percussion and DJ Marco's overdubbing and turntable mastery. Beautiful, textured sounds flooded the entire no-seat-is-a-bad-seat opera house dubbed the "Jewel of the Valley" in historic downtown Napa.

Catch her next if you can at the Teatro Arena RJ in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, December 13 and 14, 2007.

Or avoid Customs and check out her MySpace video: CéU MySpace
